No, I'm not talking about a new exercise routine!
The stress levels have peaked! Yesterday my dear husband told me he thought he was going to have a heart attack...I said that it was about time he had an adventure! We are both obviously very excited and a little nervous.
I feel fairly confident that everything is in order for our first trip to Addis Ababa. Daily lists have been made and checked. Immunizations are done (the arm I got three of the shots in is still a little sore though). Travel arrangements have been made and double checked. The emergency contact list is finished. Lesson plans and newsletters for Pre-K are done (I just need to spend tomorrow morning prepping for my sub!). Bags are beginning to get packed! Yet, I am still having to remind myself to just breath and that God's got this one! I just need to let go... I'm still learning this, even after all the amazing ways He has come through for me. This is an opportunity to be flexible and to grow... deep breaths!
I am soooooo excited to get to finally meet our twin girls!!! I get butterflies when I think about it :) I put together a photo album for each of our precious girls. The albums have a photo of them in the window (I can't post their photos until we have custody), a picture of our home, a photo of their brothers and sister here at home with signs saying they love them, a picture of mommy and daddy, and photos of our family and grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins. I am also bring two owls that sing to leave with them on our last visit... leaving our girls at the orphanage for another couple of months with be another opportunity for me to take deep breaths and learn to be flexible.
Last August/September when all of the school supplies were on sale I took advantage of the great deals. I bought 58 pencil boxes and filled them with pencils, erasers, a pencils sharpener, box of 24 count crayons, mini notepads, glue stick, hair bands, stickers, balloons, a foldable hairbrush/mirror, and a handmade hair clip to top it off (my girl helped make them!).
Once I got the news that we had a court date scheduled I started searching for good deals on soccer balls. We bought 11 full-sized balls and a hand pump to take with us. I also picked up about 30 toothbrushes and tubes of tooth paste (and 5 lbs. of lollipops!). We have plans to go to Children's Heaven and drop these off to the beautiful girls there! As you can see we don't have much room for clothes :) but our guest house offers laundry service and this may give me an excuse to buy a hand embroidered traditional Ethiopian outfit!
More great news!
My brother is in the army and has been serving in Afghanistan. We got a phone call from him yesterday morning saying that he was finally sate-side and would be flying into Ft. Lewis that evening. After church we packed up and got ready to take a mini road trip to see him! It was awesome to be at the redeployment ceremony and welcome him home!
Blessings to you all! I will update in a few week... hopeful with lots of great pictures from our trip!!!
