Hallelujah!!!

Rejoice with us!  WE HAVE NEWS!!!  Our family is expanding!  We are so happy to tell you that we have received and accepted our referral.  We are overjoyed to soon become the parents of twin baby girls!  They are very health, 23 months old, twins.  When looking back at the dates I noticed that we started seriously thinking about international adoption one month after they were born.  It is hard to believe that they have waited longer for us than we have waited for them!  I know that many of you would love to see their sweet faces but until the adoption is final we do not have permission to post their photos. I keep their precious pictures with me at all times so if you are friends living in our area I have them for you to see!

Please continue pray for them and for the rest of the adoption process to go smoothly!  We hope to have our legal documents submitted to the Ethiopian courts this week and to fly there for our court date in December or January. Once we have passed court, the girls will be ours legally according to the Ethiopian government, but cannot come home with us until the US Embassy has approved our adoption. We will have to leave the twins in the orphanage and fly home without them until we have permission and visas to bring them home. They should be home in 4-6 months and we are praying for this process to become final asap!

Praise the Lord!  He is so good and always keeps His promises!!!

Praise the Lord.
I will extol the Lord with all my heart
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,

and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.

He has shown his people the power of his works,
giving them the lands of other nations.

The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are steadfast for ever and ever,
done in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for his people;
he ordained his covenant forever—
holy and awesome is his name.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.

To him belongs eternal praise.

Our referral story~
November 13, 2012

I took our oldest to school on Tuesday morning and then worked in my classroom for about an hour.  After that I ran to the grocery store for my weekly stock up.  It was an average, run of the mill, morning.  I came home, put grocery's away, and went for a three mile jog around our neighborhood.  I try to get out twice a week for a little exercise.  Jogging has been a great opportunity for me to have some quiet time, straighten out my thoughts, pray, and connect with God.

I got home around 11:20am and did a little yard work.  While I was sweeping the front porch with the boys I heard the phone ring.  I tried to open the front door, but it was still locked from the night before.  It thought, oh well, probably just a telemarketer anyway.  The boys and I said goodbye to Daddy in the driveway as he left for work and then we went inside.

I needed to put the breakfast dishes away and wipe off the table.  Once that was done I checked the answering machine.  It was from our adoption agency.  I thought, hhhmmm, probably a question about the home study update we had just done the week before.  I called them right back.  Our caseworker answered right away and asked if my husband was still around.  I said why?  Does he need to be!?!?!?!  She said it might be nice if we was :)  I shouted for joy, literally!  I knew right then that this call was not just a question about our home study... I could barely contain myself.  My husband had just left for work!  Maybe I could reach him before he got there and see if he could come back home!  The 15 minutes it took to finally reach him were the longest minutes of my life!  I finally got a hold of him but he wasn't able to leave work.  We were both bummed, but decided that I should look at the referral right away and then try to show it to him on his next break.

I called our caseworker back and we started going through the referral.  I put her on speakerphone and video taped the whole conversation.  I will never forget the moment I finally got to see their sweet, sweet faces!  I was so excited and happy that I hardly knew what to do with myself.  The boys were thrilled too!  I couldn't wait for my oldest to come home from school and see her baby sisters for the first time!

What an amazing journey we have been on so far!  I am so excited to bring them home.  I wake up in the middle of the night and just imagine them in our house, playing, laughing, crying, eating, sleeping.  I think about what they are doing right now.  I think about the obstacles that could lay ahead, and pray that everything will go smoothly, quickly!  At times I am so overjoyed that my heart feels like it wants to jump right our of my chest and soar up to the heavens in praise for this miracle.  What a blessing!  Praise God!!!
