"My baby" (as I called him when I was 2 yrs old) brother John leaves for the military on Labor Day (tomorrow) and I can't even put into words how proud I am of him!!! My parents drop him off with his recruiter tomorrow afternoon, then he takes a shuttle to Salt Lake and flies out to Georgia to start basic training on Tuesday. My heart aches just a little because I am not there to help send him off, but I will be thinking of him very often during his journey through boot camp!!! I know he will be on my mind every time I see Ranch salad dressing or dip, eat seven-layer bean dip, encourage my son to do something because "it is Uncle John's favorite" (which almost always gives me good results), look at the Nintendo or see the Mario brothers, watch "Pete's Dragon" or "Secret of Nimh" with my kids...and so much more!
We will be praying for him and ask anyone reading this to join us and continue praying for him over the next nine weeks. Until then, I will keep the picture posted at the top of this page on our refrigerator and the American flag flying high in the front yard! So honored to be your sister!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
We love you John!!!
Now go and "Be all that you can be...Army Strong!"
Now go and "Be all that you can be...Army Strong!"
