Drought in the Horn of Africa: The Canadian Government is matching donations!

I want to share this with anyone who is interested in donating money to help with the relief efforts in The Horn of Africa.  The Canadian Government will be matching donations made through World Vision from now until September 16th.  This is a wonderful way to double your impact and let your light shine.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:15-17

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’   Matthew 25:40

Jesus said: "We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God's messenger. Accepting someone's help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I've called you into, but don't be overwhelmed by it. It's best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won't lose out on a thing." Matthew 10:40-42

The most severe drought in decades is threatening the lives of more than 10 million people — especially young children — in the Horn of Africa. Insufficient rains have created drought conditions destroying crops and killing livestock. Malnutrition and disease are on the rise as families travel long distances in search of food. Record high food prices, internal conflicts, and insecurity in the region further exacerbate the situation.

World Vision is responding by providing emergency food and health care, and by meeting other urgent needs for children and families in the Horn of Africa.

These are some of the latest stories and photos gathered in the field on issues ranging from drought to hunger and malnutrition.
